Is a shift to Non-Denominational Christianity a step towards Atheism?

I wonder. For people that chooses to go from a denomination such as Baptist, Lutheran, Catholicism, etc., is that a step towards Atheism to choose to be Non-Denominational? Out of technicality, I'm Non-Denominational; but I've seen enough to keep my beliefs. I now see the Christianity concept completely psychologically to understand how the Biblical laws benefits our mental health. Plus, I don't believe that it's reasonable to use the scientific method to prove the supernatural. (Example: You can't call a ghost to come back for the repeating stage of the scientific method.) The reason I asked this question because it's something I've noticed with Non-Denominational Christians in general. [NOTE] This is NOT about discussing what religion is right or wrong nor to ridicule a religion. This is to understand to psychological concept of switching religions. [Extra Question] Would I fall in the category of Non-Denominational or a specific Christian denomination?
