If i get a letter from my isp about copyright infringement can i still download stuff?

I just recently i received a letter from my ISP (Charter) saying i infringed on copyright laws on something i downloaded 3 weeks ago or something. I'm guessing its not safe to download anymore right? What can they do to me if i do download another application, movie, or song?
